We’re a third generation, family run business. John Doe first opened his carpet business in February 1983 after 19 years as a carpet representative. John's wife Angela, who used to run a successful high street fashion shop in Diss, soon joined him to help grow the business. By 1993 John and Angela’s sons Edward and Charles had joined the family business, closely followed by Charles’ wife Lisa who utlised her previous experience to head up the companies finances. By this time, the business had moved to a larger town centre shop and diversified by selling expertly chosen beds and furniture. In 2011, after John and Angela stepped down; leaving the business in the very capable hands of their sons Edward and Charles Doe, we officially opened the doors to our new 40,000 square foot superstore. Since then, we‘ve seen a third generation of Doe’s add to the families success with Charles and Lisa's eldest son Nathan, his younger sister Megan and their younger brother Charlie all make the step to join the family business.

The Turvill family has controlled the Swiss laundry for over 80 years, with Richard Turvill, the current Managing Director being the third generation of his family in the post. The business continues to be run on “old fashioned” family values with a real focus on detail and customer service. The company continues to provide specialist laundry, linen hire and work wear services primarily to the hospitality market. Swiss also offers a Dry Cleaning service for business through a third party partnership. Through a combination of investment in the latest energy efficient technology, using the best available solvents and chemicals and by employing skilled employees, we like to think we provide an unrivalled level of performance and service In 2004, the Swiss Laundry acquired Camplings Linen, which had a similar proud history as a family run laundry going back well over 100 years . Both Swiss & Camplings operate to the same philosophy that ‘it’s the service that makes the difference’ In 2016 Camplings moved to a new purpose built laundry a couple of miles from its original location, employing the latest low energy technologies to present a more sustainable and resilient operation for our Customers. Building on the success, the Winter of 2019 witnessed the relocation of Swiss Laundry to a large state of the art laundry processing facility in Papworth (Cambridge). Today Swiss Camplings is arguably operating two of the most environmentally friendly, low energy laundries in the country and is proud to service the hospitality sector across East Anglia and the Midlands. Now you can take a look at two videos which share some of the history and developments in our business history, most notably the investment in two new plants.
The Wilkin family have been farming at Tiptree, Essex, since 1757, and making quality preserves since 1885. We grow a wide range of traditional English fruits and use them to make conserves, condiments, and other treats in our nut-free factory by the farm. We received our first Royal Warrant from George V in 1911, and remain Royal Warrant holders as purveyors of Tiptree Products to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Every member of staff is part of our Employee Benefit Trust, giving each a keen interest in the future of the business. Our farm is LEAF Marque accredited (Linking Environment And Farming), recognising that we work sympathetically with our environment and encourage links with our local community. Fruit crops include strawberries, raspberries, mulberries, Morello cherries, rhubarb, damson, Victoria plum, greengage, quince, and the curious medlar. Where we cannot grow our own crops, we buy the best quality fruit from trusted sources, such as Seville for our marmalade oranges. Our signature fruit is the Little Scarlet strawberry, a tiny wild variety, that is very difficult to grow and to harvest. We believe that we are unique in the world in growing this remarkable crop, but it is worth it for the depth of flavour that it provides. Our products are made to cherished recipes and are free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives. We inspect and prepare our fruit by hand then cook in small batches using traditional, copper-bottomed pans. As well as our jam factory, we also have an artisan bakery and a steamed pudding factory. We supply an extensive range of conserves, marmalades, honeys, sauces, condiments, fresh fruit, teas, cakes, biscuits, fruit juices, gift packs, Christmas puddings, and even natural wax candles. Our products can be found in over sixty countries across the world, and are available in fine retailers, premium hotels and quality airlines.
