The East of England Tourism Awards is an opportunity to recognise, celebrate and support those businesses and individuals from across the East of England that have shown resilience, imagination and growth within a sector which is close to all of our hearts and lives.

The cream of tourism businesses in the East were celebrated at the annual East of England Tourism Awards on Thursday 24 February.

The awards, hosted by Archant and for the first time ever worked in association with Visit East of England drew together Tourism businesses operating across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire.

Hosting the glittering evening event in the impressive surroundings of the Imperial War Museum at Duxford was David Whiteley, co-presenter of the ITV News Anglia, with the drinks reception proudly sponsored by Paul Robinson Partnership.

The Outstanding Contribution Award was presented to Alan Carr, the Great Yarmouth veteran tourism champion whose work was a major factor in the economic regeneration of the town and wider area. He was celebrated for his work in promoting tourism and being the driving force behind major events such as the first Great Yarmouth Air Show, leading the area’s Maritime Festival for about 20 years and the regeneration of the Great Yarmouth seafront.

The winners of the Visit England categories along with the highly commended businesses in those categories will now go forward to the National Awards taking place in June.

None of this would be made possible without the support of a range of sponsors, led by our headline partner Hoseasons. We would also like to thank Visit Cambridge, Visit Essex, Visit Norfolk and Visit Suffolk for their support of the awards.

The East of England Tourism Awards is a gathering of the very communities, the businesses, the people, that help to put our counties on the map, and we extend our thanks to all who have made this award programme possible.

More details of the 2022 Campaign will follow shortly.
